It was later ported to Switch in November 2017, as well as PSVR that same month. The Special Edition was released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC five years later in 2016. It's been almost seven years since The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, was released on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 on November 11, 2011. It was revealed during this 2018 Bethesda conference that Starfield is one of them, and Fallout 76 is the other. First calling them "different than anything we've done before," Howard later told IGN those two projects were "bigger than anything we've done" before. Since at least E3 2016, Todd Howard has been discussing two major projects Bethesda is developing that he expected we'd see before The Elder Scrolls VI. Since Starfield will be a "next-gen" game, it would seem to be safe speculation that this means Elder Scrolls IV will be as well. "It's the one you keep asking about," he said to immediate audience cheers during the conference. Watch the reveal trailer below: Howard described The Elder Scrolls 6 as "the game after" their upcoming next-gen game, Starfield, which suggests it won't come out until at least 2020 (assuming Starfield arrives in 2019). Bethesda clearly knew they were dropping the mic with the reveal, as this was the final reveal of the show. You can also submit your own 500 to 600-word 4Player viewer features at any time, which if used will be shown in the next available weekend slot.An extremely brief teaser was shown during the Sunday night press conference, showing only the logo. Readers’ letters are used on merit and may be edited for length. New Inbox updates appear twice daily, every weekday morning and afternoon. There are vaguer rumours about a new model of Switch, and perhaps a new Xbox, so what would you want from them and when would you want them to be released? How long do you think the current generation should last and what would make you buy a next generation console at this point? The subject for this weekend’s Inbox was suggested by reader gaz be rotten (gamertag) and asks whether you’re happy for the PlayStation 5 to be released within the next two years?Īlthough Sony has said nothing official, repeated rumours suggest the new console could be out within the next 12 to 24 months – do you think that’s about the right time for it to launch or is it too soon? Would you buy the PlayStation 5 if it came out this Christmas or next, and what would you expect from it in terms of graphics and other new features? But I can’t help it – I want to be punished. In fact, I’ll remember I sent in this letter ask for more when I’m sitting there hating at the screen and nearly breaking a joystick. Not enough to put off you off the game, but enough to make you think that that was enough for now and that they were probably being sensible giving it a bit of a rest before making something new (see how that works with out being forced into it, Ubisoft?).īut now I’m hungry for more, I want to see that Shadows Die Twice, or whatever it’ll be called, at E3 and I want to get stuck into a new game that will have me tearing my hair out in frustration. I know when Dark Souls III came out it was well received but since Bloodborne was not long out there was a sort of SoulsBourne fatigue going on. That’s disappointing in a way but I can’t manage to get myself too worked up about it as I don’t really want them to dwell on the remaster but to get on with the next game. Basically it gets rid of the slowdown, including in Blighttown, and pretties things up slightly but it just kind of looks like what it should have originally, especially on PC. So it seems all the early gossip is that Dark Souls Remastered is not much of a remaster. I don’t want it rushed or anything, obviously, but a next gen Skyrim follow-up with actual new graphics would make my year. And I don’t see any easier way to get back on track than with a new Elder Scrolls. They were right on the cusp of being one of the big boys the other year though and now I’m worried they’ve missed their chance. Single-player only, loot box free action role-players are my jam and Bethesda makes the sweetest, tastiest jam in the world. Instead they’re forced to live or die on what games they’ve got.Īnd on that my big question, which I don’t think I’ve seen asked yet, is will Elder Scrolls VI be there? I know Bethesda has said it will be a long while yet (I guess to keep the MMO a going concern) but I’ve got to wonder whether their plans have changed after the drubbing they took year.īethesda are easily my favourite publisher/developer and it caused me almost real pain to see Prey and Wolfenstein 2 flop last year (I admit I didn’t like Evil Within 2 that much, but it was still decent). I always like the ones without any new hardware (as far as we know) as they just focus on the games and we don’t have to listen to Sony and Microsoft execs blather on about boring tech. Lots of interesting speculation already about E3 I see.
